Remove the rain gutter (in between engine bay and windshield) on the   
passenger side. You can't miss it.
Detailed instructions can probably be found at the GTI-VR6 archive.

Hey,

     (I'm embarassed to ask this question)  Could anyone please tell me
exactly how to find my ECU?  I need to determine whether or not my '94   
GLX has
a soldiered chip so I can determine whether I should upgrade it.  Thanks.
