RE: Possible radios for '97 Golf

hey chuck...
check out the blaupunkt las vegas... it costs a little more (not much, though)
but it sounds great and looks good, too. i think it matches the inerior styling
of the Jetta nicely- as it's more squared off as some of the other units avail.
it's got some neat features, too. like a remote control, station naming, disc
naming (up to 99 CDs with the 10 disc changer), programable timer, and
turn-on message. and it's got lots of other cool features- better described
on their site. see link below for details. it's listed under their "five series"
radios. their "seven series" is pretty cool, too- but a bit too much money
for me. check them out anyway...

crutchfield will supply all the adapters free, including the fuba. keep in mind,
though that the wiring harness adapter is not 'plug and play'. you will have
to mod it yourself if you have the bose sound package. don't be afraid, it's
really easy. basically all it entails is NOT connecting the negative speaker
outs from your head unit to anything. just tape them up real good so they
don't ground out to chassis and you're golden.
as for the fuba, simply connect the antenna turn-on lead to the fuba.
i'm attaching a link to mark's site below. he's got a real nice write-up on
the procedure in his 'upgrade/interior' section along with wiring diagrams
from VW. crutchfeild will also send you some nice wiring diagrams.
