Re: Alarm shorts?

Douglas,

I had a similar problem, and this was the cause:

If the security system thinks any door is "open", it will produce the
symptoms you describe - NONE of the locks will operate, + no lights or
beep, but the alarm will be armed. In my case, the dealer had not
closed the passenger door all the way - I drove the car 100 miles and
saw no warning light - and it apparently popped open about 1/8" when I
turned into my drive at home, causing the problem you describe. The
owner' manual (p. 12) doesn't describe this very well - it says there
will be no beep, but doesn't mention the other stuff. I tore my hair
out! (BTW, the dealer was a dick about it and didn't know anything).
Reclose the doors, trunk, and hood and see if the problem clears.

Another possible cause is that the "radio is there" sensor is open,
which I've been told can cause similar symptoms. Check that the radio
is firmly seated in the slot.

Hope this helps,

Taylor
