alternator wiring

I'm looking to upgrade the stock wiring and need to know what there is to
upgrade...As far as I know there is a wire from the alt to + battery
terminal, & ground from - battery terminal to chassis...is there a direct
ground from the alt to the chassis?  Or any other wires I'm missing?  I'll
be swapping everything to 2ga...another question...how the hell do you get
to the alt?  It'd be easy if I dropped the bumper and radiator, but there
must be an easier way...
