Alignment Problems??

Have any of you had a problem getting a alignment shop to line up
your car after installing struts/springs?  I went to my usual mechanic
who works on our other cars, and asked about getting my Jetta aligned
after I install the suspension.  The owner said absolutely not, they 
wouldn't touch it, and gave the following reasons:

1) Our insurance doesn't cover it
2) Our machine isn't set up to handle modified suspensions

Is this typical?  Am I going to have problems finding a place to work 
on the car after I put in the suspension (Bilstein Sports/Neuspeed Sport
Springs).  We don't really have a wealth of "tuner" type shops here, so
I'm going to have to rely on other avenues.

Please share your experiences, and any tips.
