Patrick,
I believe porting is matching the intake manifold "runners" exactly to the
"runners in the head. Polishing is where they actually polish the inside of
the manifold and runners all the way down to the top of the valves. The
performance gain comes from the fuel being able to flow "smoothly" down to
the top of the pistons. Less restriction.
