Door chime

I have an idea about disabling the annoying "La Cucaracha" chime when   
first starting the car, but at the same time keeping the warning alarm   
active when you open the door with the lights left on. I noticed that if   
you put on the driver's side seatbelt before starting the car, the song   
doesn't play for you. That must mean there is some kind of "sensor" in   
the seatbelt mechanism (the female part). There seems to be a wire   
running from this part, and I'm wondering if somehow that wire can be   
disconnected. Anyone tried to do this before? Would this work for all   
A3's? Hmm...
