Recommended speakers?

I'm finally getting around to upgrading my head unit in my 97 jetta and
at the same time I'd like to replace the speakers in the front door
panels and the ones in the rear package tray.  That is, both the woofers
(mids?) and the tweeters.

Anyone have any particular recommendations?  And...what exactly are the
factory-installed speakers in the doors and larger ones in the tray?  Are
these 2-ways?
