     Depending on how your dealer is, they will probably give you a lot 
of crap and bs about modifications ("your Volkswagen is built the way it 
is because that's how it was designed" is just an example of the crap 
you'll hear).  However, the law clearly states that the dealer has to 
prove that the mods actually caused the damage to the car.  It's highly 
improbable that they're willing to engage in  long protracted court 
battle to void your warranty.  Just don't take your engine apart or 
anything drastic like that.  A chip, intake, or cat-back exhaust will 
neither void your bumper-bumper nor powertrain warranty.
