3rd Gear Shift -- Was: rear Jetta emblem

I have a '98 GLX (Stock) with 7k and have stayed in 2nd til about 60mph
until I shift to 3rd with no problems.  From 3rd I nail 80mph and throw it
into 4th.  I'm not sure why it wouldn't go into 3rd gear.  It doesn't seem
logical to prevent you from shifting to a higher gear when going so fast.
