I think Patrick only removed the head unit from his car.  The Bose-labeled
unit is really a modified version of the Panasonic-made one that has been
used in Passats for the last few years, which kind of explains the
unspectacular performance of it.  The genuine Bose parts of the system are
the speakers and amp.
