My '95 GLX feels the same. Kind of disconcerting. You push the brake and
nothing really happens untill you push hard. Then it brakes quite nicely.

I had my brake fluild replaced at 22.5K (I now have 33K) and the reservoir
is at max level.

Still haven'tt replaced my pads.
