Personally, I don't use the cruise very often. Mostly when I have a cop
tailing me and I want to stay right at 54 mph. However, I did have a
situation once in another vehicle where my pedal cable broke in the middle
of no where. I was able to have a passenger accelerate the truck using
pliars from the floor. Then once we got up to 35 (the point where the
cruise would activate), I used the cruise control to operate the
acceleration. I guess I just enjoy having redundant systems for emergency
use. As for hoards of buttons ala Pontiacs. Yuck! I very much appreciate
the simplicity of my Jetta. . .I would never have bought a second one if I
did not think highly of the engineering and layout.
