Car dies

This morning while accelerating away from a stoplight, in traffice, I took
a little bit of extra time shifting from first to second and while I had
the clutch in, my 95 GTi VR6 died on me!!! All warmed up and everything,
twenty minutes into my commute! Nothing like rolling along at 20 mph with
the world accelerating behind you and suddenly die!!! I messed around with
it some more and I think I narrowed it down to while accelerating from a
stop. Somewhat random, not every time, the usual dealership "can't
duplicate" problem. There doesn't seem to be any problem with slowing down
or dumping the clutch while cruising, though it did die on me once just as
I came to a stop at a stoplight. The car is stock except for the usual
modded airbox and a K&N drop-in filter. Anyone have a similar problem, or
just want to throw your two cents in before I take it into the shop? I'm
hoping it's just adjusting to the colder weather, but I haven't had this
problem the previous two years and it was only 40 degrees this morning. I'm
going to keep a close eye on it the next couple of days and see if it goes
away. Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
