Re[2]: Replacing Stock Headlights

     Hey guys,

I have been lurning out here for a while. Thought I would add my
experience to the thread. In a ddition to my wifes 97 Jetta GLX I
have a 94 Passat GLX. The headlights absolutely suck on this car. I
changed out the bulbs for higher wattage and found a minor difference.
The reflector on the passat was the problem. Well, since I had
purchased the mail order, I figured I would keep them in. They burned
out much faster than the stock bulbs. When I replaced the, the plug
on the wiring harness was badly burned. This caused a intermittent
bad ground, which caused one light to dim out quite a bit. This past
weekend I replaced the plug (6$ from VW).

I would definitely not recomend higher wattage bulbs unless you
upgrade the plug. Not sure if you can. Myaybe the overkill harness
     will help.

     Later ...

     Warren

I thought that ND did not recommend higher wattage bulbs in the factory U.S.
head lamps due to the risk of melting the
plastic housing???
