intake mod

went to a VW car show this past sunday a guy that is the head installer at 
a local stereo shop did this neat little mod to the intake.  he was looking 
around the install bay while working on his car a nd noticed that the ports 
for the enclosures were the same size as the MAF and the p-flo.  he found 
that by using this extension there was a little bit of an increase in power 
due to the increase in the intake length.  does anyone have any comments on 
this?
