     I wouldn't go any bigger than a 16" with 205/45/16 on it.  They will 
     look great and turn in will be quicker.  Anything bigger isn't going 
     to really give better performance and will just lend it's self to rim 
     bending.  Especially if you plan on doing suspension work, and 
     lowering the car I would stick with the 16".  A 17" wheel can have 
     rubbing problems on a lowered car and the fenders would have to be 
     rolled.  The first thing to do to that car before all others is to 
     replace the crappy stock Eagle GA's.

 I have a 98 black on black jetta glx. I would like to put 17x 8 wheels on the
car . does anyone know what the best size tire would be to put on the car and 
or the biggest size wheel .
