diagram) I called a VW engineer at VWOA and was told that they wanted the
mirrors wired this way to keep them clear. It was based on  that there was
very little current draw and during the 97 production a new switch would be
introduced that had a timer. The production change involving the new switch
never happened and I was told it would be phased in during 98 model year. I
have yet to do a prep on a 98 but will keep a watch out as to post a follow
up.

Don
