factory stereo sys on GLX

so with all this discussion on replacing the CD changer installed
on the jettas and how expensive they are brings up some questions...

for those of you that shelled out the three hundred bucks for the
trunk mounted cd changer- how well does it work? does it skip
when going over speedbumps at 10mph or does it skip when you
run over a speck of dirt at 5mph?

also- how does the factory installed head unit sound? (bose-
whatever the higest option is; i beleive it's called the 'premium')
and if that has to be replaced... how do the factory installed
speakers sound with a new head?

is the premium package worth it?
is it worth it to me who will probably not be able to afford an
upgrade for quite some time after shelling out 22 grand for a
'98 glx?

ps- went down to charles maund volkswagon and drolled on
a couple of 97 jettas... ooooo aaahhhh.
the secoia (sp?) green with a black leather interior really grabbed
me!

oh, yeah. my next question...
can i get black leather seats with a jetta glx? i saw a passat with
the black leather, but the jettas had either grey (vinyl?) seats which
they were calling biege- or those ugly patterns.
what's up with the patterns on the cloth seats? they aren't very
appealing...
