Did Pierce forget to guard his man again today? I noticed that Gilbert

Who was guarding Hughes who went for 31? Not Jiri; "one of the best
>>defenders in the league," was it?

Somehow I doubt you really wanted an answer to this question, but I'll give
one to you anyway. Arena's, being the point guard, was guarded by our point
guards...Chucky and Marcus. Hughes was guarded by Jiri and Ricky. Pierce
guarded Jeffries and Hayes. These were the matchups for the most part. This
isn't the first time Jiri has gotten lit up for 30 and it won't be the last. For
what seems to be the millionth time I will point out that the Celtics defense
(they are still playing a lot of Harters defensive principles) allows for the
outside shot especially on ball reversal. Arenas was 6 of 9 from outside and
didn't take a single shot closer than 15 feet. Hughes was 4 of 6 from
outside, took 5 of his 21 shots in the paint and missed 3 of them....2 of those three
were layups....although he also got to the line 11 times. We had 13 layup
attempts to their 7, 2 dunk attempts to their 6, 21 of our 77 shot attempts
were 3 pointers (including a 55 foot heave to beat the buzzer) to their 20 of 72.
Washington came close to doubling our free throw attempts, 31 to 17.
