Vecsey Snipes At Ainge

Interim Celtics coach John Carroll was signed to a third 10-day contract immediately following Sunday's three-point road victory at the Off-Target Center. Boston misfired from the field at a 33 percent clip while the Timberwolves mustered a manly 36 percent. Paul Pierce (4-of-21) dedicated his performance to J.R. Bremer, reports column castigator Frank Drucker.
Who are these green meanies? On the (tar) heels of Danny Ainge proclaiming it'd be better in the long run to lose now and get more desirable draft position come June, the Celtics, in an effort to play themselves into the Big East Tourney, have recorded five wins in a row.
Last time Boston went for five straight, Ainge relieved Jim O'Brien of his "security blankets" (Eric Williams and Tony Battie) in order to force his coach to make more use of younger, friskier players. Since the trading deadline has expired, maybe Vin Baker won't be the only Celtic unceremoniously deactivated.
