I don't envy the Celtics schedule the next 4 games
We got to build up momentum, then went over a tough hump beating
Minnesota. Now it gets nasty. The next four Celtics games could well be
what decides the C's playoff chances.
On Tuesday, they play in New York, taking on a Knicks team that had been
falling apart but is now riding a three game win streak. Granted, they
beat Washington, Toronto, and Philly, but who are we to comment? New York
is currently one game ahead of the C's--a win by the Good Guys ties the
regular season records, and we need to be ahead of the Knicks, as they hold
the tiebreaker against Boston.
The next night, they go home to face the $%&^^&#&#*--you know, the
Lakers--who have looked decidedly mortal this season. We're 3-2 vs. the
denizens of blah-blah land over the last three seasons, and had we played
them LAST month, I'd have to admit a win would have been nearly
miraculous. It's still a toughie, but it's a possibility.
Then after one day off, the Pacers come to town. Ever get the feeling the
scheduling office isn't a Celtics fan? They just beat up on the Nuggets,
and will play Toronto in a scrimmage on Tuesday, before enjoying a couple
of days off to rest up for the trip to Boston. They're playing extremely
well, and will be, I expect, a tougher game to win than the Lakers. We're
1-2 against Indiana, but the win was by two points, and one of the losses
was by one. They're a much tougher team with a competent coach.
The next night, the C's finish up with the Wizards. the Good Guys just
outlasted them last Friday in a game that should never have been that
tough. The C's need to do some serious stomping there. Washington will be
looking to catch the C's at the end of a rough week, and if we wanna be a
playoff team, the Wizards count as "one of those teams you should beat".
That's just THIS week. NEXT week is the bulk of final regular season games
against the WC.
Eep!
