Marty Conlon!!!!!!

Good Old Marty had a great run playing for the Irish National Team over the
past few seasons. With Marty Leading the way Ireland got promoted to the
top division of European Nations. No more away games to Malta and
Cyprus.....roll on France, Germany and Croatia. I attended the Ireland vs
Croatia game at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin a year and a half
ago.....the Irish team led by Marty put up a hell of a fight against an
understrength Croatian Team going down by 2 pts after an epic
encounter!!!!!!

Marty declared for Ireland (as have many others who have arrived in Europe
to play pro-ball) in order to get an Irish passport and be able to play as
a European on the top club teams (most euro leagues have a limit on the no.
of foreign players - normally 2). I just thought Marty deserved a mention,
as his play for his adopted country has really helped raise the profile of
Basketball here in the Emerald Isle!!!!!!!!
