Re: Max is campaigning for a job

I wonder if he meant it seriously though, or at most assistant vs head coach. Because I've heard him talk too many times about things like how glad he is not to have the headaches of a head coach, how nice it is that when he goes home after a broadcast he gets to leave the game behind him, etc. And from what I know of him, I can believe him feeling that way.

I actually have a fair amount of respect for his understanding of the game and Xs & Os after regularly listening to him broadcast for years on top of the way he played. He clowns around, which can fool people, but when he does comment, he knows what he's seeing/not seeing and what should be done/not done and why. And can explain it to others. Of course it's still not just a matter of understanding them, it's instilling them in others as Jimmy Rogers can attest to.

Subject: Max is campaigning for a job

Don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but Max did the Friday night Toronto game on Fox New England because Heinsohn was attending a reunion of his College team.

When Gorman asked if he had any desire to coach and at what level, Max said he definitely wanted to coach and the NBA was the only level he was interested in. He then said, "Danny, if you're listening, I'm interested and available."

Any thoughts about Max moving to the sideline? I've always loved his heart, but I'm not sure how good he is with the Xs and Os.. Of course, I don't think anyone on staff is particularly good with Xs and Os
