Golden State is just clearing salary in ordr to make a run at Kobe.  If the deal is done, they will renounce hi contract at the end of the year

Each side would probably have to throw something in, say Wes Person 
(Por) and Evan Eschmeyer (GS) to make the salaries work, but this is 
probably a better deal for Portland than the A. Jamison one from 
Dallas.

Not sure how great it is for Golden St. -- i guess they're gonna go 
with Speedy Claxton at the point and Sheed at the 4 (till Murphy gets 
back then move to the 5.  Though if they're just "renting" Wallace, 
letting him walk at the end of the year, they could make a real run for 
someone like Kenyon Martin.
