Pierce, Allen Named Players of the Week
NEW YORK, Jan. 12 b The Boston Celtics Paul Pierce and Seattle SuperSonics
Ray Allen were today named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players
of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, January 5 through Sunday,
January 11.
Pierce led the Celtics to a 3-1 record averaging 25.8 points, 9.0 rebounds
and 5.8 assists, recording two double-doubles (points-rebounds) against Eastern
Conference opponents Orlando and Detroit.
Allen and the SuperSonics, winners or seven of their last 10 games, went 3-1
for the week. Allen recorded season-highs of 42 points and 16 field goals made
in Seattlebs 119-108 overtime win against Portland. Allen averaged 26.8
points on .482 shooting and dished out 7.3 assists per game.

Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics
Jan. 5 vs. Detroit b Recorded 27 points, six rebounds and five assists in a
78-68 loss to the Pistons.
Jan. 7 vs. Orlando b Had 19 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists as the
Celtics defeated the Magic 101-93.
Jan. 9 vs. Cleveland b Tallied 30 points on 8-of-15 shooting, 12 rebounds and
eight assists in a 107-82 win over Cleveland.
Jan. 11 @ Houston b Had 27 points, 13 in the first quarter, and eight
rebounds in a 97-93 road win over the Rockets.
Ray Allen, Seattle SuperSonics
Jan. 5 vs. Portland b Recorded a season-high with 42 points, eight assists
and six rebounds in a 119-108 overtime win over Portland.
Jan. 7 vs. Sacramento b Had 22 points, seven rebounds and nine assists as the
Sonics defeated the Kings 104-93.
Jan. 9 vs. Memphis b Had 15 points and seven assists to record a Western
Conference win over the Grizzlies, 122-116.
Jan. 11@ Golden State b Scored 28 points, while recording eight rebounds and
five assists in an 113-110 overtime loss to the Warriors.
Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were
