Re: Bill Simmons Unloads On Ainge, Celtics Writers, Baker, Walker Trade

The Davis trade was okay, although he doesn't like him or want to cheer for

knowing about Lafrentz's bad knee. How could he trade for that, knowing he'd
need surgery? Ainge should have waited, as teams will do a lot of dumb things
as the season goes on. He could have gotten more for Antoine, but just did not
want him here.

I think Simmons has lost his fastball. Maybe he doesn't watch enough Celtics
games out there in LA. He used to be pretty dead-on with his analysis of them.
He's got a point about the Celtics coverage, though. However, I think it's not
that they don't pay attention, it's that they don't report or publicly question
what they see. Too "embedded", I guess. With Simmons pretty much out of the
loop, we're left with national writers who have an ax to grind, or on
industrial-strength a-holes like Vecsey to report on the less-glorious
happenings at Camp Green.

PS Did anyone notice that Obie's f-i-l Jack Ramsay's "10 New Year's resolutions
for the NBA" had the following item:
"That NBA general managers allow their coaches to coach without second-guessing
and eroding their authority."
