Re: caution on Felton

I never got see Banks play in college. I would be interested to see what some of you college hoops types thought of him and his pro prospects while he was in college. I took Ainge somewhat on faith about him being the most NBA ready of all the guys in the draft, though I thought Hinrich was going to be an all star. In reading this cautionary tale on Felton, I see that at least one person thinks he is better than Banks right now. Further, do you really think the Celts would take another PG in this draft? If they did, it would be basically admitting that Banks isnt the guy for the job and that the team doesnt think he is ever going to be.

Mean Gene,
He's going to be the fourth or fifth point guard picked in the draft - caution already

Ok, so this is early for draft ideas: I'm a little concerned about the maturity of UNC's Raymond Felton, the classy PG. He is as good a dribbler and penetrator and passer as there is in the college game, but UNC has lost too many close games. Maybe he will mature and be a first rate pro, but I have a few doubts at present. He's better than Banks right now, but he's just as short and not quite as fast. I'm a big Tarheel fan, so I see them often on the tube. Just concerned about him right now. OTOH, May has great skills at PF. Cheers, Gene
