Actually it's still not a lot of money in terms of NBA salaries, but he DOES get a substantial raise in the second year. About 60%, which is far more than the manditory 10%- goes from 367M to 620M. Not bringing it up to pick nits with you, but because it offers an alternative option for what you were originally suggesting with 2nd round picks - get them to sign for low money the first year with a second year that is team option but for significantly more money if they can make it look like they're worth keeping.

He makes virtually the same money the second year but I guess overall, it 
isn't nearly as substantial as I thought.....
