RE: Juwan Howard?

This cracked me up, Josh.

I just have to trust Ainge and the other GMs who are bidding for Juwan
Howard. If they feel he can help the Celts, and add to their assets for
future deals, then I'll wait and see.

The only risk to this deal is the length of Howard's contract. But it
sounds like he's tradable. Remember -- you're only giving up the Mills
contract and Mihm, and as much as you might think Mihm is as good as or
better than Howard, it's obvious Ainge doesn't feel the same way. Blount
and Perkins are the centers of the future. Not Mihm. I like Mihm, too,
but Ainge sees him as expendable.

The team needs a power forward, and Howard, Ainge feels, fits the bill.
I hardly think Howard is a slug. You don't average 15 points, 7 rebounds
a game and shoot 45 percent from the floor in this league if you're a
slug. Doesn't anyone think he can give us what Baker did early in the
season? And at less than half the cost? And he's moveable if it doesn't
work out.

It's all about adding talent while retaining flexibility. That's what
Ainge is trying to do.

Great, a slower and less athletic Juwan Howard, and another
set-shot three-point specialist for Carroll. Calling Dr. Kevorkian!
