None whatsoever except from watching how the NBA works.  Take Mills for 
example, he is a commodity because he is in the last year of his 
contract (and the rare bonus of it being insured).  Take Eric Williams, 
he was in the last year and we were able to spin him off for more value 
than he would have fetched a year ago.  Look at Sheed, there is no way 
he would have fetched that package last year and as Danny said Sheed is 
only there for 2 months.  Same with Person.  Go back through the last 
couple years and look at guys being traded near the deadline in their 
walk year.  Even Vin Baker would be tradeable in the last year of his 
contract - a team looking to clear cap room would give up two players 
for him (that had multiyear deals) so they could free up space for a 
free agent.
