RE: Brent Barry?

Brent Barry is as soft as they come. The guy disappears for long
stretches of games and plays absolutely pitiful defense. On offense,
he's become nothing but a three point shooter. Honestly, if he came to
Boston, any minutes he gets would be better spent on Welsch/Davis. The
deal only has value to the Celtics if they let him walk as a free-agent
at season's end.

Subject: Brent Barry?

Frank Hughes from Tacoma News Tribune (via Real GM):

The Seattle SuperSonicswant to get guard Brent Barry signed to a
contract extension before he becomes a free agent this summer and have
contacted his agent, Arn Tellum, in an attempt to do so.

Unfortunately, the sides are far apart.

Tellum and Sonics GM Rick Sund met and according to sources, Sund told
him that the Sonics would offer a two-year deal worth $10 million..

However, according to sources wants a four-year deal for $23 million
that would expire when he is 35.

Sources also say that several teams have contacted Tellum saying they
would offer Barry the 4 year/$23 million contract that he wants this
summer.

Several teams have called Sund about Barry but have been rebuffed.

Some possibilities mentioned are Atlanta, Boston, Golden State, New
York, Orlando, and Portland.
