Re: [Celtics' Stuff ] Ainge on Dennis and Callahan.

Did Ainge really say he was looking to add another guard, yet also state
that he wouldn't add another PG in order to insure that Obie would be
forced to go with Banks? Obie, the players, and the fans must really
appreciate hearing the latter.

This Danny guy who we all had such high hopes for, is the same arrogant,
competitive, loose cannon he was as a player. He will eventually, sooner
than later, cause a split in our team wider than the Red Sea parting. He
could have avoided this by simply sticking to his universally accepted
aims for this team ...up tempo, motion offense. But he would have had
to fire Obie and traded off Obie's most trusted floor lieutenants to
accomplish his mission. Instead he chose, at least for his first year,
to talk big but carry a little stick.

Here is my problem with Ainge. His schtick is that he is his own man.
Yet he did not have the courage or the backing to immediately take the
necessary steps to begin making over our team. And really, when will
he, since he will forever be beholden to the Celt owners and their
mantra -

''Make us better - but don't weaken us during the make over.''

Pagliuca and Grousbeck fancy themselves as Bball experts which makes
them much more difficult to deal with and far more dangerous than most
NBA team owners. In light of their luxury-tax aversion and the
subsequent small band-aids any GM would have been able to apply to
our team, Aingebs $3 mill per year might well have been better spent
on signing players slightly superior to the free agents we ended
up with.

Meanwhile, protagonist Danny will also be challenged by leading
antagonist, Coach Obie. Just watch as General Obie stubbornly leads
his loyal troops (Walker, Williams, Battie, McCarty, etc.) in battle
against the up-tempo style of General Ainge and his raw recruits.
Good thing, as Danny says, that he and Obie are on the same page.

I dislike repeating this as much as you dislike hearing it again. So for
the last time - with each Ainge shoot from the hip statement he loses
more and more credibility and loyalty among those closest to him.
I am not saying he is dishonest, it's just that he seems to change his
mind daily, sometimes even hourly... like between interviews.

And so, JB, you wonder why the Globe and Herald have barely covered
the Celts in the past two months? Ainge and his ever-changing
statements, finesses, and overall bullshit has spit into wells he should
have realized he would eventually have to drink from. And then there
are the naive, hands-on owners.

Could you have ever imagined a press B O Y C O T T?
