HOF friend

I meant to chime in recently, to say something about an old friend.  Although I didn't see any pictures, my old friend Leon Barmore was inducted along with Parish and Worthy.  He was a classmate at Tech, a friend for a number of years there in Ruston--I even coached his daughter in church league BB.  Leon was gruff on court, an incredible competitor, and a marvelous combination of coaching skills.  For twenty years he kept Louisiana Tech at the top of women's BB, winning several championships, beating USC and Tenn. and Texas and CT in their heyday, with a winning percentage of about 90 vs. the top teams.  He played all the best teams and they feared him like no other.  Just keeping a medium level sports school at the top vs. the big conference and big money teams was something special.  He's more than deserving; he's the best women's coach from the 80s and 90s.  Since the coaching sororiety pumped the women, he never got the chance at the Olympics; too bad.  Let's see if Gino at CT
 breaks through the lingerie ceiling.  Did I say Leon was a good guy?  I'm proud of his achievements.  Gene
