RE: Chad Ford Comments On Suns Battie Trade

Maybe the idea is to free up some cap room for Kobe if he gets off. After
this week chances are good he will not return to L.A. With James and Banks
why would we need Knight?

There is also talk that the Suns and Celtics are trying to swing a deal that
would send Tony Battie to Phoenix for Brevin Knight. The Suns have been
looking for a starting center since shipping Jake Tsakalidis off to Memphis.
Because Knight is in the last year of his contract, the deal would give the
Celtics and additional $4.8 million in cap room next season.

While that's not enough for Boston to go and get a top-flight free agent, it
would give them plenty of flexibility to sign a free agent with their
mid-level exception next season.

(Well, since they were planning to sign a mid-level guy sans Battie deal,
methinks it would give them flexibility to sign a couple of free agents).
