Chad Ford Comments On Suns Battie Trade

There is also talk that the Suns and Celtics are trying to swing a deal that would send Tony Battie to Phoenix for Brevin Knight. The Suns have been looking for a starting center since shipping Jake Tsakalidis off to Memphis. Because Knight is in the last year of his contract, the deal would give the Celtics and additional $4.8 million in cap room next season. 

While that's not enough for Boston to go and get a top-flight free agent, it would give them plenty of flexibility to sign a free agent with their mid-level exception next season. 

(Well, since they were planning to sign a mid-level guy sans Battie deal, methinks it would give them flexibility to sign a couple of free agents).
