Borderline and could depend upon clauses specific to his contract. The general contract says that a player shall be (not just may be) suspended for a minimum of 10 days upon conviction for unlawful violence. Of course suspending a player just means you don't pay them, it doesn't get them off your cap or luxury tax...

I see the Kobe for Houston and Thomas trade. If Kobe goes to jail, they just 
have one more year on his contract. Actually, do you have to pay someone who 
is jail anyways? But it could be a great way for a team to get out of contract 
with a potential high return if he is acquitted....But forget the PP for Kobe 
idea. Only if he is acquitted first.....
