One Stop Point Guard Shopping
A few Cap do-able deals, as the Celtics need to get at least one
point guard who can run an offense under pressure, hit outside shots,
and pass at the right time and to the right player:
Nick Van Exel
For
Tony Battie, Mike James, Chris Mills & 1st
Seems reasonable on all accounts. Big PG improvement for the C's,
and the salary-cutting and rebuilding Warriors would be picking up a first
and clearing up Cap space.
Brent Barry
For
Tony Battie, Mike James & 1st
Like this one. Seattle needs a center upgrade; Celtics a backcourt
improvement. With Allen, Barry, Ridnour, Daniels and Murray, the Sonics
can afford to deal one of their guards for Center help.
Troy Hudson
For
Mike James & Kedrick Brown
The underrated Hudson played well for the T Wolves last season, before
the team was totally revamped. Ainge's pal McHale can figure out how
to get through to Brown.
Juan Dixon & Steve Blake
For
Blount, James & 1st
Not my favorite deal, but the Wizards are set at point and could use
another Big Man and the pick.
John Salmons & Todd McCulloch
For
Tony Battie & Mike James
Interesting. Philly could use another Big Man, the Celtics need a PG
in the worst way, and McCulloch, one year more on his contract than Battie,
could retire.
Brevin Knight
For
Tony Battie
Same old, same old.
Qyntel Woods, Jeff McInnis & Ruben Patterson
For
Tony Battie & Eric Williams
Woods is a great talent, but has a weed problem; Patterson can play defense, but
he's a psycho, and McGinnins is a PG upgrade. O'Bren would resign if this deal
was made.
