Minutes

Walter is basically a tall SF. So it is not surprising that when Battie
plays,
Walter's minutes at center are those of a third or fourth stringer. What is
surprising is that when Battie does not play, Walter's minutes at center
strangely skip all the way to first string.

Several weeks back, McCarty was playing the best bball of his career.
Then suddenly without warning, even his minutes at SF were turned over
to Kedrick who temporarily arose from the dead to once again jog up
the floor and standeth at the right of the three-point stripe. The
additions of Long and Blount further impacted Walter's playing time
eventually leading to only seven minutes against Denver. Then suddenly
last night, in the absence of Battie, Walter (not Blount) logged thirty-five
minutes against Utah. He even won the Tommy Award. And Kedrick,
after seeing only six minutes against the Nets, five minutes against the
Pacers, and a DNP against Denver, was allowed twenty-one minutes.

Obie's utilization of his roster, in particular his concern in waiting for
THE PERFECT matchup to unleash these two secret weapons is - well I just
cannot find the appropriate word for it.
