Hot Button Celtic Issues - I

Chris Wallace

Sure he should be straight-jacketed away by the basketball men
in white coats, but that ain't happening people. How many management
types
are fired after their teams make the playoffs? It's a rare occurrence.

Winning begets complacency. Mediocrity begets mediocrity. Losing begets
change. The C's take a dive next season, and Wallace is history.
Until then, he's here to stay, especially with new ownership in economy
mode,
and not looking to have to buy out Wallace's contract and then have to
pay for a new GM and his staff.

The Draft - Part I

International and high school players in the upcoming draft offer the
Celtics
the most economical means of coming up with a player who can have an
impact at center or power forward.

I'll give you an example: Offer Antoine Walker to Indiana or Chicago for

either O'Neal or Curry, and they'd both turn the Celtics down,
asking for Pierce instead.

However, offer Antoine Walker for a top five pick in the upcoming draft,
and
then use that choice to select the next Curry or O' Neal or a Gasol like
player,
and voila, there's a strong possibility of that type of trade occurring.

Then it's up to Loveable O'Brien to actually take time out from his busy

schedule and develop said player.

Extending Walker's Contract

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Deal him for a top draft pick and restructure the team along the lines
of Pierce,
Impact Center, and quality PG.

Dave Cowens

I read in Bulpett's piece, that they're possibly looking in to bringing
in Dave Cowens
as a scout. Please don't tell me he's going to be their chief European
scout.
And why a scout? What about making him their Big Man's coach. Well,
you'd actually have to have Big Men to need a Big Man's coach. Ha,
aahaa.
