DJ,
They absolutely HAVE to pick up his option for Year 4. That not only gives KB
another year to develop but it would also give the the team another year to
trade him if he doesn't. You don't want him going into Year 3 as an
unrestricted FA and watch him begin to blossom. Learn from the Lakers' recent
blunder when they didn't pick up the option on Devean George last year only
to have to turn around last summer and be forced to use their full $4.5 M
exception to retain him when they could have had him this season MUCH cheaper
if only they had picked up his much, much cheaper option. Compound the luxury
tax impact of an extra $3M or so in salary with the direct tax payment plus
loss of a tax refund. What was the BDT for the Lakers thinking??? Jerry Buss
has to be seething at such financial incompetence.

At least Jerry West learned from his student's Mitch Kupchak's blunder - West
picked up the option on Stromile Swift for next year by the deadline last
Oct. 30 and now look at Stromile's recent play. Do ya think Stromile would
receive an offer or two or three come July15th if he were an unrestricted FA
as of July 1st because the Griz didn't pick up his option?

It should be a no brainer that the C's exercise their option on Kedrick for
Year 4 by the upcoming deadline.
