Re: [Celtics' Stuff Re: Memphis - C's trade

My brother in law and father were POd that we didn't keep Bell. I was POd we drafted him at 16. When the trade was announced I at least breathed a little bit - maybe there is a little salvation.

Banks could be a player. If nothing else he's supposed to be a defensive gem (The Kidd Protocol) and he's NOT a 3 pt. threat so hopefully OB won't MAKE him be one.

Perkins I know nothing about. We just have to pray (ALOT) that he's Amare Stoudamire Redux. I just hope that when we're up or down 20 in the fourth quarters of games OB FINALLY gets over his high schoolish "scrubs only play the last minute" complex and gets this guy seasoning.

Hey, at least they filled out the roster almost completely for the summer league - Banks at the 1, Bremmer at the 2, Kedrick at the 3, Hunter at the 4 (the kid we got from Ohio U.), and Perkins at the 5.

In other news the Lakers had a BOFFO draft and immediately made themselves the favorite again. Of course with "Motivated Shaq" (vs. unmotivated Shaq) the Lakers are always the top choice for the ring, but they got exactly what they needed a 4 that can score both in the paint and off the jumper in Cook and a very heady, crisp passing Walton who will thrive in the triangle. I hate the Lakers, but seems they always draft well doesn't it?

No one else really jumped out at me as "wow, that draft was awesome". Seattle looked smart with its picks. I'm glad Gaines was gone - like my brother in law said - we already picked Ron Mercer once. My only pet peeve really was the mantra of always take the slider. Warren Sapp...Paul Pierce...do I even need to go into other notable sliders that came back to haunt other teams? Lampe from the outside perfectly compliments Sweetney on the inside for the Knicks.
