Re: NBA.com Draft 2003 Index,...the ego that roared

I found it to be a pretty informative piece that Josh posted. I enjoyed
reading it and did not comment 1) because I read more than I post and 2)
because I have taken a wait and see attitude with the draft. I think that
with the NBA draft its a lot harder to predict whose going to go where
because the draft for need thing doesnt work quite so well as football and
the past performance statistics dont mean as much (take scouting college
players in the MLB draft - the Billy Beane approach). So, you have a lot of
judgements about potential based on skills which is really subjective and
thus more of a crapshoot that other drafts.

All that being said, I love reading the stuff on here that is a) informative
and b) posted lacking the sarcasm and bs that too many people seem to bring
to the table (and nothing else) here.

I have been on a number of sports boards and email lists for baseball and
football in the past. Honestly, I have never seen involving sports fans
with a shared passion (for the sport and a particular team) with such a
large number of bitter, cynical, and just plain asxxolish posters. It
marginalizes the excellent posts, opinion, and thoughts that make this list
worth reading.
