Cooke does well

The wrapup seems to back up Cooke getting the rebounds and doing well....

<For the second time in a month, the New Jersey Nets finished second to the
San Antonio Spurs. Last month it was in the NBA Finals. This time it was at the
Reebok Pro Summer League. Donny Marshall led a balanced scoring attack
leading the Nets to an 82-67 win over the Boston Celtics (2-4) at the Reebok Pro
Summer League, giving them second place in the league standings with a 5-1
record, behind only the Spurs who finished the week at 6-0.

The Nets led from wire to wire and put this game away early with a 14-4 run
early in the first quarter. Brian Scalabrine had 8 of his 15 points during the
run, which turned a tie game into a 20-10 New Jersey lead. Another spurt by
the Nets, this one early in the second quarter, put the game away. New Jersey
outscored the Celtics 20-5 during a 5:41 span. Scalabrine and Tamar Slay each
had five points during the run and Ace Custis added a three-pointer and, at the
2:08 mark of the quarter, the Nets had double the Celtics score, 46-23 before
taking a 48-30 lead at the half.

Boston cut into the New Jersey lead in the third quarter. Brandon Hunter
scored 9 of his 15 points and Lenny Cooke, getting his first start of the week,
scored 6 of his 14 points in the quarter, as the Celtics trailed by just 11
points entering the fourth quarter. But the Celtics could get no closer. Marshall
went 4-for-6, including 2-for-4 from three-point range in the fourth quarter
and the Nets expanded their lead to as many as 18 points before settling for
the 15 point win.

Marshall, one of the leaguebs top scorers averaging 20.0 points per game, had
21 for the Nets. Zoran Planinic (16 points) Scalabrine, and Tamar Slay (10
points) also hit for double-figures for New Jersey. Kedrick Brown led the
Celtics with 17 points, while Cooke playing his best game of the week added 13
rebounds from the backcourt, to his 14 points.

Although the Celticsb record did not reflect it, they got strong performances
from several players. Brown averaged 17.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game,
Hunter averaged 16.3 points and 8.2 rebounds and Banks scored 15.5 points and
6.2 assists per game. New Jerseybs Brian Scalabrine proved to be one of the
best all-around players in the league, averaging 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and
4.0 assists per game. >
