Re: My game thoughts - Wed

I think that was Derick Battie sitting next to Ainge. Isn't he a scout in some capacity for the C's?

Bruno looked just horrible. Noy sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but he picked up 7 personal fouls. They made an announcement after his 6th that by rule he was allowed to stay in the game. Shortly after that he picked up his 7th. He also had a lane violation, had rebounds ripped away from him from much smaller players, and almost started a fight when he decked some kid real hard from the other team as the kid was attempting to get to the hoop. Bruno picked up 2 T's but was allowed to stay in the game.

I know it's just summer league and these aren't real refs, but some things never change. The C's were called for at least twice as many fouls in each of the 4 quarters. Some late calls at the end might have evened it up a bit. Even Ainge was yelling at one of the refs at one point in the 4th. It looked like he said something like, "Will you just let these guys play? It's summer league. Quit calling the ticky tack stuff."

I talked to Ainge a little bit after the game outide the arena. Nothing much, because he looked to be in a rush. I told him that I knew he couldn't say it but that the fans were happy to finally have someone in charge who knows what they are doing. He just looked at me and kind of chuckled as if to say 'I know'.

My thoughts of the game:

There is no doubt in the talent of Marcus Banks. However, there is also no
doubt he is a rookie. Some bad passing decisions, playground move for traveling,
reaching for quick fouls, forcing instead of creating and trying to take it
all the way with larger people in his face. Still, he has great quickness, a
great crossover, a great stutter step and uses different speeds very well. His
shot was lacking and he was forcing that. He even took his smaller defender
into the post and powered it up for a foul. Lots of good things and lots of bad
things. He seems a little shorter than I had hoped. Great handle on the ball
with both hands, through the legs and whereever required. Need to see how he
will play with better talent. His greatest improvement will be to focusing on
developing, pick and roll, etc. instead of his own shot. He is more than willing
to pass it however if guys get open....

Disappointed to not see Kendrick Perkins. The announcers said he had a
sprained foot and didn't dress....

I was quite impressed Brandon Hunter. Although he missed a few bunnies, he
was very active. He can definitely hold his own under the boards. I think the
bunnies will go down as he gets used to playing with bigger players. He has the
hops to finish but likely isn't used to the bigger body contact. Some of the
biggest shoulders I have seen other than Karl Malone. Also reminds of Reggie
Slater but has much more talent. He got schooled in the post by some punk and
was disgusted in himself. He will need to learn NBA defense. I really liked him
and look forward in seeing more tomorrow night....

Kedrick was looking for his offense in the first half but it wasn't going.
However, I really liked how he was forcing the offensive action in the second
half, even getting a little nasty. They got to figure out how to get Kedrick to
force it thoughout the game.....

At times, Sundov was way above everyone else for the rebound. However, he was
a revolving door on defense......

Bremer couldn't hit the broad side of the barn and in Walker fashion, just
kept shooting it.....

These other guys aren't worth the time they got. I don't know why they didn't
play Cooke because some of these guys really stink...

The game reminded me of some of the poor shooting games of this past year. If
it wasn't for some of the uptempo stuff, we would have had a hard time
getting 20 points in the whole game. Not enough creation and not enough fast
breaking. I blame some of this on Banks, who seemed to try to carry the team
offensively by himself. Since Bremer couldn't shoot and Kedrick wasn't bringing it in
the first half, there was many other options.....

Rick Carisle was sitting to the left of Danny during the part of the game to
be replaced by Steve Bulpett. Some black guy with a familar face was sitting
to the right of Danny during the second half. Does anyone know who he is? I did
catch a lip read of Ainge talking about move of Kedrick's being "so quick".
Not sure if it was the right move or not....

I was in a bar and couldn't catch of a lot of the discussion. Hope others can
fill in anything I missed....
