Mourning, Bird

Gotta love the Nets' giving Zo a 4 year, $20 million deal. I certainly
don't wish Mr. Mourning ill, but this smacks of desperation. After
missing just about 2 of the last 3 seasons (with a subpar year in
between), what do the Nets think he can do for them? Zo wouldn't have
been a bad short-term risk, but between this deal, Kidd's deal, Mutombo
and Martin, aren't the Nets going to be more screwed than the Cs from a
luxury tax perspective?

Maybe they're trying to corner the market on Georgetown centers. Perhaps
they can lure Ewing away from Van Gundy's staff, and then they can fire
Scott and hire John Thompson.

I'm much more upset about Larry heading back to Indiana. Not only does it
mean he won't be back in Boston, but now the Pacers have someone who's
smart enough to fire Isiah. While it will be a fun moment when it
happens, that won't be much consolation when the Pacers get good again.
