1. It doesn't mean I have like their selections -- as I saw better players available -- but I expect both Banks and Perkins to be solid. Perkins a third level center; Banks a quality PG defender (and if he hits a game winning shot, the cliched headline will be: "Money In The Banks").
2. Ainge's failed attempt to ensnare Malone in Celtics green reminded me
of the Wallace episode in the recruitment of Austine Croshere, where Pitino had Wallace don a Croshere Celtics t-shirt or something like and visit Croshere in an Indianapolis restaurant or something like that.
3. Lenny Cooke: What's there to lose? However, if he turns ut to be "WOW" material, they'll have to sign him to a contract right away or someone else will scoop him up. It will be interesting if Cooke outplays K. Brown.
4. Brandon Hunter: Love the part about signing a lucrative free agent contract. He's going to struggle to make the Celtics roster.
5. We haven't seen the Sunmmer League roster for the Celtics yet, but I'm wondering what International Players are onboard? Demos Dikoudis apparently is on the Toronto summer league team.
6. How about that 5-9 Japanese PG that's the star of the Dallas camp. You got to hand it to the Mavs. They do a great job of International scouting. Much better than the Celtics.
7. Marky Markster: There's a simple reason why Ainge hasn't been able to trade Toine. Because of his contract, three-pointers, out of control shooting, and conditioning no one will give up anything of quality for him. I'd like to believe that Chicago trade, but in light of the continuing facts, that deal seems like it was less solid than people like Bill Simmons led us to believe. Ray
