Something stinks in Miami

Rrrrrrrrriiiiiiigggggghhhhhhtttttttt.........

<The entire scenario comes as a surprise to the Heat, which assumed Carter
would activate the option on his contract for next year. Carter had an
''opt-in'' clause in his contract that put the onus on him or his agent to activate the
final year of the deal. That is different from an ''opt-out'' clause, which
requires notice only if the player chooses to terminate the remainder of his
contract, as Kidd has done.

During the season, the Heat front office was considering waiving Carter,
therefore challenging his right to invoke the option for next season. Riley,
however, disagreed with the idea and honored the the deal.>
