RE: Brown's playing time
OK, I just need to know what the expectations are. The BDT (I love that,
Kestas) promised us McGrady, Kobe or Vince. Instead we have Bruce Bowen or
Michael Curry-or we hope to, when Kedrick gets a little more polish. That's
great when you're grabbing guys off the scrap heap. Not so good when you're
making them lottery picks.

The K-ster...the K-meister...making coffee.
Good man-to-man defense isn't quite analagous to "making
coffee" don't you think? (although the Bucs must have
made some pretty good coffee on the way to winning the
Superbowl).
With the exception of several sequences (including a nice
steal by Pierce on Miller's attempted drive), Kedrick was
the guy that Obie glued onto Mike Miller. You could see
that Miller wasn't get his normal shot off and became
aware of Kedrick's athleticism. That's what Kedrick does.
No one in the organization seems to be asking Kedrick to
score. Fans have to live with it too.
If he can be as successful as Bruce Bowen or Michael
Curry on defense, then he deserves to play on a 50-win
caliber team.
We'll see how he does against a real team (guarding Rip
Hamilton). The Celtics defense yesterday was
qualitatively a lot better than against Denver (which
missed lots of easy shots), even if the stats look
similar.
As a team goal this week, the Celts need to finally get
back under 43% overall in FG defense. We are at 43% on
the nose right now, trailing only Indiana (42.3%) and New
Joisy (42.6%) in the EC.
And if they know what's good for them, the Celtics have
to boxout and rebound the ball or its going to come back
and burn their butts.
Despite having the All Star Game starter and reigning
Defensive MVP in Ben Wallace, the Detroit Pistons rank
dead last (29th) in team rebounding. Boston, even with a
healthy Antoine or Battie, ranks a nearly as pathetic
27th.
Teams like Indiana (4th) and NJ (12th) will have a
distinct advantage in the playoffs if that continues.
Bird's Celtics didn't need a higher FG% than the Lakers
in order to win some playoff games and series.
Boston and Detroit are close rivals in futility. Boston's
job is to win the boards against Detroit tomorrow night,
even without Delk and Walker.
There seems to be some macho pressure (from Shira
Springer even) for Antoine to beat the doctor's estimate
on his return date just to prove his iron man credentials.
As a fan I don't WANT him to rush back tomorrow, when he
could instead have the entire week off (until Friday) to
recuperate.
