Re: I feel better but we still have been Gastoned

<You still like this trade? May I ask WHY? Several dozen 2nd-string
centers around the league (at 10%-20% of Baker's cost) could have
brought us his contributions... even VP. How come Vin so often plays
with the naivete and tentativeness of a rookie rather than a
10-yr. vet? How come he makes so many other team's centers, even
rookies, look like the second coming of Bill Russell? Worse yet, how
come Obie prefers SF McCarty to him at center? Pathos.>

We have gone over this before. Baker's main contribution will be in the
playoffs. If you watched the Portland game, you saw some of the things he
will do. The problem has been everyone has been expecting him to play like a
12 million/year player where instead he should just be another piece of the
championship set, another option. The problem has been that we lost RR and
Strickland so Baker is expected to replace them and more. We needed to keep
them and still make the trade. Imagine all of the options at Obie's disposal:
he could go with RR or Baker dependent on what he wanted to do and he could
go with Shammond or Strickland. He just sucks what Gaston did to us. We got
Gastoned...
